Visa has recently announced the rollout of its Real Time Visa Account Updater (VAU) in select markets within the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to enhance payment experiences for both customers and merchants. This innovative service enables cardholders to maintain a single credential throughout their lifetime, simplifying the handling of payments across various subscription services, including ride-hailing, food delivery, and recurring utility bills.
Real Time VAU empowers merchants by eliminating the common issue of payment declines caused by expired or replaced debit and credit cards. By utilizing Visa's advanced technology, the service allows businesses to seamlessly update customers' stored card information in real-time.
When merchants attempt to process a payment, Real Time VAU checks for updated card details instantly, facilitating a smoother transaction process. This innovation significantly reduces the incidents of authorization declines, minimizes lost sales, and helps maintain strong relationships with cardholders. The service was initially launched in North America in 2017, followed by its introduction in Europe in 2022.
