In a strategic move to modernize payment solutions, Visa has announced its collaboration with NymCard, a Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) provider, as it joins the Visa Ready to Launch (VRTL) program. This initiative, revealed in a press release dated August 28, 2023, seeks to transform how FinTech firms and non-banking entities issue payment products across the Middle East and Pakistan.

The VRTL program is designed to simplify the complexities involved in launching new payment solutions. As the card enablement landscape remains uneven, Visa aims to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end issuance capability through this initiative, which includes product bundling, program management, and scalable technical integration via application programming interfaces (APIs).

"Visa Ready to Launch is the first of its kind plug-and-play end-to-end issuance platform which effectively bundles products and services for FinTechs to swiftly and seamlessly launch a payment program," commented Salima Gutieva, vice president and UAE country manager at Visa.

Omar Onsi, CEO and founder of NymCard, expressed enthusiasm about this partnership. "We are excited to be able to use our expertise and our modern payments platform to scale up the onboarding of Visa’s Ready to Launch program. And we are honored to be chosen as the first processor to do so," said Onsi.

Initially, the VRTL program will target markets within the Gulf Cooperation Council, North Africa, and the Levant region, with anticipated future expansion to Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. NymCard is not only the first to participate in this program but also sets the stage for other processors to follow suit, enhancing the FinTech ecosystem in the region.

This alliance follows NymCard's recent acquisition of the buy now, pay later (BNPL) platform, Spotii, in June 2023. This acquisition was a strategic move to introduce a BNPL tool tailored specifically for the Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) markets, allowing NymCard to expand its financial services offerings.

The jointly developed platform will cater to both B2C and B2B segments and feature advanced capabilities, including eKYC (know your customer) processes, machine learning-driven regulations, a fully customizable loan management system, and an AI-enhanced collections application.

In October 2022, NymCard also partnered with Western Union, focusing on expanding international money transfer services within the United Arab Emirates. The synergy between these two companies is expected to further enhance financial access and services in the region.

Overall, this collaboration signifies a promising step toward innovation in payment systems, aiming to address the persistent challenges faced by financial entities in efficiently launching and managing payment programs. Emerging technology and partnerships may only continue to evolve, reshaping how consumers and businesses interact with financial services in the future.
